Bell had been in custody on charges related to the robbery of a Papa John's restaurant located at 5942 Highway 58 in May.

He was last seen wearing a hospital gown and handcuffs, but law enforcement officials learned that he was able to change clothes after breaking into Professional Industrial Tire on the 1500 block of Riverside Drive some time on Sunday. He is now believed to be wearing a blue T-shirt and jeans belonging to an employee of the business.

An official with Professional Industrial Tire declined to comment, but said no damage was done to the business other than Bell breaking in and taking the clothes he is believed to be wearing.

The sheriff's department has attempted to pull video surveillance of his escape at Erlanger and the break-in at Professional Industrial Tire, according to a news release, but so far have not been successful because of technology issues with camera systems. Efforts to obtain the footage is ongoing, the release states. The sheriff's department says the video will be released to the public when it's available.

Bell is believed to still be in the Chattanooga area. Since his escape, he has been added to the TBI's Most Wanted list.

He is described as a black man, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds.

Anyone with information on the inmate's whereabouts is encouraged to call the sheriff's office at 423-622-0022.

This is a developing story.
