Storms that swept into the Tennessee Valley Monday night knocked out power for some EPB customers, but utility officials said all but about 200 affected customers were back with power within a few minutes of the worst of the storm.

"We haven't fully confirmed the cause of the outages, but it was likely high winds and other weather conditions that were sweeping parts of the local area," said J.Ed. Marston, vice president of marketing for EPB. "We were able to utilize the Smart Grid to restore all but about 200 customers within minutes, and we will continue to work as quickly as possible until all are restored."

EPB provides electricity to more than 160,000 customers in the Chattanooga region.
