Walker County Sheriff's Office trying to identify body found Tuesday in LaFayette, Ga.

Someone found a dead body off Old Mineral Springs Road in LaFayette today, and investigators are trying to identify her.

Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said in a news release that the woman appears to be 30-45 years old. She had brown hair. She appears to have been dead for three-to-five days.

Investigators did not identify any signs of trauma, but her body will go to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab for an autopsy.

Wilson said the woman's body was found about 115 feet off the street, in the 2900 block of Old Mineral Springs Road, which is about two miles southwest of the Walmart in LaFayette. Investigators are checking local law enforcement agencies to see if the woman matches the description of any reported missing persons.

The woman also has two distinct tattoos, Wilson said. The sheriff's office will release that information if they cannot identify her from any other means.

Anyone with information on the case can call Detective Sgt. Zach Simpson at 706-639-0871 or 706-375-7810.
