The vacation to end all vacations is winding down.
And we really hope you have enjoyed the Mrs. 5-at-10 photos this week. She has big league skills.
We close the week with a thanks to all the folks playing in the contest and to the weather gods for making our time in the land of Aloha this magical.
From the, well, you know, here we go.
From a slew of you, in various parts
Do you really want transfers to be immediate? That would mean college football has free agency?
Gang –
No, as a college sports fan, I do not want college sports to have free agency.
But I am tired of holding the 18-to-22 year-olds hoping to make millions to a higher standard than the grown A-men who are making millions upon millions.
So there is that. Speaking of which
From TC
Mailbag item. After the Super Bowl and March Madness, what sporting event sparks the most interest in non-sports minded folks? Would you go football natty, Olympics, Masters or other?
TC –
Great question and I am not sure what the choice is for the casual sports fan.
But for me, The Masters is my best guess.
And if we are going non-olympics stuff, I would say any of the global soccer conversations if the U.S. is contending.
Other than that, I would think the Kentucky Derby would rank pretty high too.
From Mike
Where have your picks been? The tournament gets here and poof you are gone. Thanks for nothing.
Mike –
Sorry. But not really.
Have a nice day my man, and enjoy the action.
This week’s Rushmores:
Rushmore of 1980s comedy characters: (Big difference here is who was the biggest name in an ensemble or the bigwig across the entire film.) Ferris Bueller, Axel Foley, Clark Griswold, and John Winger from Stripes.
Rushmore of celebrity sports fans: Jack and the Lakers, Jerry and the Mets, Spike and the Knicks and Marky Mark and the Boston teams.
Rushmore of Bruce Willis movies: Die Hard, Disney’s The Kid, Sixth Sense, Pulp Fiction
Rushmore of bets places to visit in the U.S. – Thinking of that, we’ll go Hawaii, Glacier, NYC, and Grand Canyon, although we were tempted to say Augusta, Ga., one week out of the year or; any sports book the first day of March Madness.
See you Monday.
