Chattanooga firefighters quickly extinguished a fire on the front porch of a home in the 800 block of Wheeler Avenue around 3:30 a.m. today, according to a news release.
Firefighters doused the fire when they got to the scene and the blaze was contained to the porch, but smoke and water damage to the front bedroom displaced the family of three living at the home, fire department spokesman Chuck Hartung said in the release.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family with temporary housing. Hamilton Emergency Services, Chattanooga Police Department and Electric Power Board were also on scene to assist, officials said. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
