A Dalton man wanted in connection with a shooting that left two people injured, including a teenager, last month was taken into custody Thursday, Aug. 29.
Jobanie Martinez, 21, was arrested in the Atlanta area with the help of the U.S. Marshals office, according to a spokesman with the Dalton Police Department.
Police say Martinez is a suspect in a shooting in which a 21-year-old and a 15-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident happened on Aug. 18 at a home on Dozier Street. Investigators believe Martinez and the residents were associates and have been in some sort of dispute. After being at the residence for a short time, police believe Martinez began shooting at the victims with a handgun, before fleeing the house.
After the shooting, Martinez was sought on two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, burglary in the first degree and criminal violation of the Georgia Street Gang Act.
He is currently being held at the Whitfield County Jail.
