A Hamilton County Schools bus was involved in an accident in Soddy-Daisy Wednesday morning.

Bus 16 was rear-ended by a vehicle intersection of Dayton Pike and Clift Mill Road. It was transporting students to Soddy-Daisy Middle and High schools, according to Tim Hensley, spokesman for the school district.

No students were injured in the accident. Students were transferred to another bus and taken to school.

There have been unconfirmed reports that one person was transported to the hospital, but Hensley confirmed that no students were transported to the hospital and no injuries were reported to the district.

Wednesday's accident is the most recent case of a driver hitting a school bus.

Hamilton County Schools officials and law enforcement have been cautioning drivers to be careful around school buses. More than a dozen accidents involving a school bus have already been reported this school year.

Bus 61 is an independently-owned bus and is operated by one of the district's approximately 70 contract drivers, Hensley said. The district's vendor, First Student, also operates more than 180 buses every day.
