The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is warning Chattanooga area residents about potential exposure to COVID-19 as a result of interaction with members of one of its fraternities, according to a news release from UTC officials.
UTC's COVID-19 Campus Support Team and the Hamilton County Health Department are teaming up in contact tracing efforts to determine those who might be at risk of exposure to the virus from members of the Kappa Sigma fraternity beginning August 8. The fraternity's leadership and members are also assisting the school in its efforts to pursue student contacts.
No information was released about how many Kappa Sigma fraternity members have tested positive for COVID-19.
People who may have been exposed are encouraged to get tested and cooperate with UTC's team and complete UTC's online COVID-19 notification form at https://cm.maxient.com/reportingform.php?UTChattanooga&layout_id=61 or contact the Office of Student Outreach and Support at (423) 425-2299 or sos@utc.edu.
COVID-19 testing for UTC employees and students is available through their health care provider, University Health Services and the Hamilton County Health Department. The school is "taking all necessary precautions to protect the UTC community as fall semester classes begin Monday," the release states.
