A Bradley County, Tennessee, man was arrested Tuesday morning on a charge of attempted murder.
While deputies were at the crime scene investigating, a fire began at the home where they answered the call.
Authorities said 40-year-old Michael Chad Park was charged after officers determined Park allegedly stabbed a man who lived with him at a home on McClanahan Drive in the northwestern part of the county, according to a statement from Bradley County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Taylor Woodruff.
Aside from the attempted murder charge, Park also faces a charge of making false reports, Woodruff said.
“During the course of their investigation, they [the deputies] were alerted to flames on the residence from an apparent structure fire that was started after their arrival,” Woodruff said.
Authorities said Park is accused of setting the fire but no charges were immediately filed in connection with that allegation. Bradley County firefighters extinguished the blaze. The home sustained heavy smoke and water damage, officials said.
No bond amount was listed for Park.
