Chatter Box Cafe customers can now dine on-site with the Shallowford Road food truck's new indoor and patio seating areas.

The barbecue food truck has parked in the lot at 6801 Shallowford Road since last June. When the produce stand that previously occupied the building on the lot went out of business, Chatter Box owner Brandon Ellis took over the lease.

He moved his trailer to the rear of the patio and added seating inside and out, for a total of 50-60 seats.

"It was a win-win for us and the customers," Ellis said of the expanded space, which celebrated its grand opening Feb. 1. "A lot of people wanted to be able to sit down and enjoy their food."

With the additional refrigerated space he now has indoors, Ellis said he was able to expand his menu as well.

Along with the smoked chicken and wings, beef brisket and pulled pork on the original menu, he now offers tacos, nachos, barbecue dogs and potato salad.

With TVs inside and out, the new seating areas are prime sports-watching spots. Ellis said he also plans to start hosting live blues on the weekends.

The Chatter Box truck on Shallowford is one of three, including one traveling truck and another that's a permanent fixture at Heaven & Ale Brewing Co. on Cherokee Boulevard.
