Chattanooga bars, restaurants and breweries can temporarily make beer deliveries during the COVID-19 outbreak.

In an executive order signed Friday, Mayor Andy Berke granted the businesses permission to acquire a special 30-day off-site beer permit that would allow the delivery of commercially sealed beer- such as cans, bottles or growlers- to be ordered for delivery.

Only employees 21 years or older who work for businesses that acquire the permit will be allowed to deliver the beer. Standard identification and beer sale laws still apply.

The decision comes about a week after the state decided to allow similar off-site sales of wine and spirits to offset the economic impacts of coronavirus and prevention orders on bars and restaurants, including an executive order by Berke that prohibits dine-in service at all bars and restaurants within the city.

To inquire about a permit, email Bertha Lawrence at bglawrence@chattanooga.gov.

The order also suspends public access to city hall, city court, the city annex and the city services at the development resource center beginning Monday, until further notice.
