Man killed during demolition project on Judd Road

One person has died after a building collapsed during a demolition project on Judd Road Tuesday, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

Shortly after 11 a.m., Chattanooga fire officials and Chattanooga police found the body of 51-year-old James Lance on the 1200 block of Judd Road. Investigators later determined that Lance was working to demolish the structure when it collapsed, the release states.

The Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration is conducting a separate investigation of the incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and police ask anyone with information about the incident to call 423-698-2525 or submit a tip through the CPD mobile app. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
