One person has died and three others have been injured in a Thursday afternoon fire in the 1300 block of Highland Road, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived at the scene around 3:51 p.m. and immediately began rescue operations due to entrapment reports of residents from dispatch. One person was saved and rushed to a local hospital to receive treatment for injuries, but another person died since due to overwhelming conditions, the release states.
Two firefighters were also taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the fire. Both are in stable condition.
It took 14 fire companies about an hour and a half to get the fire under control, according to the release.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
