Class Notes: Chattanooga-area schools start returning to class this week, and more education news

Some area schools will start this week

Several Chattanooga-area schools and school systems kick off the first day of school this week.

Hamilton County Schools charter schools and private Catholic schools open Thursday, Aug. 5. These schools include three charter schools - Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy, Chattanooga Preparatory School and the new Montessori Elementary at Highland Park - and three Catholic schools - St. Jude School, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School and Notre Dame High School.

School systems opening this week including Chattooga County Schools and Dade County Schools on Aug. 5, followed by Whitfield County Schools, Bradley County Schools and Cleveland City Schools opening Friday, Aug. 6.
