Q: When do I need to have my varicose veins checked?

A: Varicose veins are a very common health condition affecting over 40 million people. They need to be checked and monitored because varicose veins can become a danger to the health of a patient, leading to more serious conditions.

If you are experiencing leg pain or fatigue, swelling in the legs or calves, aching in the legs, slow to non-healing wounds and/or skin discoloration, this could be the result of chronic venous insufficiency.

Best advice is to be checked and evaluated by a vascular surgeon. Simple tests can be performed to check the blood flow, detect blockages and correct the problem if needed.
