Your Tuesday at a glance:
- Weather: Mostly sunny with a high of 62.
- What to eat: If our Instagram comments are any indication, there’s a lot of excitement about Newk’s Eatery reopening yesterday. Just trust me and get a slice of the caramel cake if you go.
- What to listen to: I used to be one of those “plays Christmas music earlier than socially acceptable” people, but now I’m a lot more seasonally accurate. Here’s a guide to the year’s best holiday albums.
- What’s happening: It’s hard to keep track of all of the area happenings during the holiday season, so let us give you a hand with our planner of this week’s events, from a live Nativity and comedy to Christmas concerts and movies.
Good morning, Chattanooga!
Tamara and Chris Martin’s plans to scale back their own Christmas to help provide struggling families with gifts have grown into a much larger effort.
“People wanted to jump on board,” Tamara Martin said. “So we said, ‘OK, let’s make it a community kind of thing.'”
The project, named “Excellence over Excuses,” is working alongside local organizations and four Hamilton County schools to provide students’ families with gifts of clothes, shoes and toys.
