If you can’t find your groove Friday night at downtown Chattanooga’s Nightfall, or maybe you want to continue your dancing ways when it’s over, walk over a half-block or so to the newly renovated Patten Square and enjoy DJ SpinChilla.
After two years of construction, the newly renamed and renovated Patten Square, the part of the city next to the Chubb Building between Georgia Avenue and Lindsey Street, will officially open Friday with a ribbon-cutting at 10:30 a.m. Businesses in the area will be offering lunch specials, beauty and hair demonstrations by staff at Millennial Nail Bar and prizes.
The street that runs through the square will still bear the name Patten Parkway, as the area was known for decades.
Restaurants on Patten Square are Jack Brown Beer and Burger Joint, Lil Mama’s Chicago Style Hoagy, Honest Pint and Mindy B’s. In addition to law offices and apartments, the square is home to several other businesses with storefronts on the square including Five Leaf Wellness, Painted Lady Tattoo Parlor, Shyne Collective and the French Quarters Hair Salon.
The evening portion of the festivities will start at 8 p.m., according to Dawn Hjelseth, vice president of marketing and communication with River City Co., which is producing the grand reopening. The west end of the square near Georgia Avenue will be closed during the morning part of the event and the end near Lindsay Street will be closed in the evening.
