Ooltewah High School has named Shannon Williams as its new head football coach.
Williams, who spent the past two seasons as the offensive coordinator at Red Bank High, previously worked as Ooltewah’s head coach from 2010-2012, compiling a 21-14 overall record that included two playoff appearances.
“To have the opportunity to hold this job for a second time is truly and honor,” Williams said. “I have a special love for Ooltewah High School and the Ooltewah community. I am very excited to get to work, get to know everybody, and start planning, and developing our players, for the 2021 season.”
The Owls advanced to Class 5A quarterfinals in 2012 and the second round in 2011, both times losing to the eventual state runner-up. Also during his previous stint, the program produced 10 players who signed college scholarships.
During his time as Red Bank’s offensive coordinator, the Lions went 20-3 overall, reaching the Class 3A quarterfinals in 2019 and semifinals last season. The offense averaged 30.9 points per game and more than 320 total yards during that time. Four Lions offensive players earned all-state honors under Williams.
