Life and death
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about life. Spring always does that to me – the first bloom; when the warmth of the sun finally overtakes the chill in the air; the day the sidewalks bloom as well, as we all exit our hibernation chambers.
But I’ve also been thinking a lot about death.
Four months ago, my family gathered over Zoom to pray for my grandpa, who lay unresponsive in a Florida ICU. Two days ago, we held hands and prayed around his makeshift hospital bed in my parents’ living room here in Chattanooga.
It was the last time many of them will see him alive.
