The Silverdale Baptist Academy baseball team clinched the second state tournament berth in program history with a 7-3 home win Saturday against Grace Christian Academy, with the Seahawks taking the rubber match in a best-of-three series for the Division II-A East Region championship.
Cameron Mullins hit a two-run homer in the third inning, and Brett Rogers (2-for-3, two runs, two RBIs, two stolen bases) had a two-run triple an inning later to help build a seven-run lead. That was more than enough for Brody Lamb, who pitched six innings and allowed two runs.
Silverdale is 31-3-1 overall since Lance Rorex was hired as coach two years ago.
Signal Mountain 7, Central 6: Hunter Davis had four hits and helped spark a four-run bottom of the seventh in which Braden Casner’s two-run single was the winning hit.
Hixson 6, Red Bank 1: Corey Satterfield drove in three runs, and Jacob Tobias struck out seven batters in five scoreless innings for the Wildcats.
