Your Tuesday at a glance:
- Weather: High of 61.
- What to catch your attention: HomeServe USA isn’t just adding 150 workers and boosting its minimum wage – it’s boosting my sleepy spirits today with these photos of training supervisor Nick Stoyer working on Friday in his Halloween costume.
- What to read: Christian writer Rachel Held Evans’s final book “Wholehearted Faith” will be released today.
- What to watch for: Our annual veterans salute. Yesterday was the first day of November and we will be featuring a new veteran each day until Veterans Day on the 11th. In today’s story, UTC’s Abeer Mustafa credits her service in the U.S. Army National Guard with putting her on the path to success.
Good morning, Chattanooga!
Nowadays, anytime we feature a specific local musical artist in the Times Free Press, I try to take some time to sit down and listen to a few tracks from their repertoire.
This weekend, our entertainment/life reporter Barry Courter wrote about Jerod “Swayyvo” Morton who just released his first solo album “Sounds in My Own Words”.
The saxophonist, whose music has been used by NBA.com and for local ads for the Tennessee Valley Federal Credit union, said he strives for a unique sound.
“It’s my very first instrumental project,” he said. “People have been wondering why I haven’t done it before, but I wanted to do it in my own way. I don’t want to be compared to anyone else.”
Here read about his upcoming debut events, his collaborations and what you can expect from his album. It’s been great background music for work so far.
Now for some recent stories:
REMEMBER WHEN, CHATTANOOGA?: The year 1975 marked a turning point for the Hunter Museum of Art, seen in this 46-year-old photo.
THE FINAL STRETCH: These are the five final Hamilton County Schools superintendent candidates.
IT’S GOING DOWN: COVID-19 cases are continuing to drop in Hamilton County Schools.
