Hello and welcome back to School Report!
Wednesday marks the first day of fall, and school districts will hold week-long fall breaks throughout October.
Districts going on fall break the first full week of October include Bradley County Schools, Cleveland City Schools, Polk County Schools and Sequatchie County Schools, according to school district websites.
The week of Oct. 11-15, Hamilton County Schools, Marion County Schools, McMinn County Schools, Meigs County Schools and Rhea County Schools will go on fall break. Bledsoe County Schools and Grundy County Schools will hold Fall Break from Oct. 18-22, nearly a month into the season.
Hispanic Heritage Month began on Sept. 15, and I’m hoping to speak with Chattanooga-area students and educators about how Hispanic heritage will be taught and recognized in the classroom this month, particularly for schools with large Hispanic and Latino representation among the student body. Please email me at achaturvedi@timesfreepress.com this week if you or someone you know would like to chat with me for this story.
