The Dade County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help from the public to identify and locate a motorist whose vehicle struck a pedestrian in Rising Fawn, Georgia, and fled the scene last week.

Police said a man was walking on the 1300 block of Highway 11 in Rising Fawn early on Sept. 21 and was hit by a passing car. Deputies were dispatched around 6:19 a.m. and found the man had sustained “substantial injuries” from the crash. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators said that the early morning light made it difficult for the pedestrian who was hit to provide a clear description of the vehicle that struck him.

“Georgia State Patrol was called to the scene and initiated an investigation into the incident,” the Dade County Sheriff’s Office said in a Wednesday evening statement.
