A storm system is moving into the Chattanooga region Saturday evening, likely bringing some rain and snow.
Chattanooga is expected to see anywhere from a half an inch to an inch of rain, which will start falling in the area Saturday night and continue through Sunday, WRCB reports. Later Sunday morning, as colder air moves in, the city may receive a dusting of snow as the rain transitions. But the snowfall might not last long as the rain will be moving out of the area as the shift occurs. Higher elevations may see up to 3 inches as low pressure continues to bring a mix of rain and snow to the Tennessee Valley and Southern Appalachians on Sunday and Sunday night.
A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for portions of east Tennessee, including Hamilton County, southwest North Carolina and southwest Virginia, according to the National Weather Service. A winter storm warning is in effect for far east Tennessee mountains, southwest North Carolina and southwest Virginia, while a watch has been issued for the Cumberland Plateau and parts of northeast Tennessee for Saturday and Sunday night.
