Between 2018 and 2020, nearly half of all drownings in pools were to children aged 14 and under. The states with the biggest share of childhood drownings in pools were disproportionately in the South and include:

1. Pennsylvania - 27 of 48 drownings involved those 14 and under

2. Georgia - 51 of 94 drownings involved those 14 and under

3. Arkansas - 13 of 25 drownings involved those 14 and under

4. Oklahoma - 16 of 31 drownings involved those 14 and under

5. Tennessee - 20 of 39 drownings involved those 14 and under

6. Louisiana - 26 of 52 drownings involved those 14 and under

7. Alabama - 22 of 45 drownings involved those 14 and under

8. Ohio - 26 of 58 drownings involved those 14 and under

9. Mississippi - 16 of 33 drownings involved those 14 and under

10. Texas - 110 of 245 drownings involved those 14 and under
