The Chattanooga Seafood Company has opened on Dayton Boulevard, bringing fresh seafood to Red Bank.

The store, located in the former home of Sofa King Juicy Burger, offers a variety of fresh seafood and shellfish, with 10-15 items available at a time, depending on availability and season. These will include items like oysters, clams, crabs and lobsters.

"If you come in and take a look at our display cases, you'll immediately see the difference in the product that we've brought to the community versus one of your big box retail stores," said owner Thomas 'T.J." Jones in an interview with the Times Free Press. "Not only the freshness, [but] quality and variety also."

One example Jones gives is of his store's "dry" scallops. He said that many people are likely used to purchasing "wet" scallops that are pumped with water which can change their color and make them appear larger before they are cooked. But Jones said his company's scallops are their natural color and large, unlike what many people have seen before.

"They are absolutely massive," Jones said. "In each one of our products, we pride ourselves in what we put in that case, because it is absolutely the best."

In the near future, Jones has plans to bring smoked salmon and homemade to-go meals like soups, spreads, sauces and dips to the store.

"Eventually, I also plan to add grab-and-go meals, along with my own in-house fish stock," Jones said in a news release. "We'll have something in stock for every seafood lover."

While Chattanooga Seafood Company is already open for normal hours, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Saturday, Jones said he hopes to have a grand opening at some point next week, which will be announced on the company's social media channels.
