A local McDonald's organization, Smith Management, recently presented a $26,000 check to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga, a significant donation that was the result of the "Heart Sales" initiative in January and February, according to a news release.

During that time, customers who donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities received a heart displayed in the restaurant in their name. The "Heart Sales" effort was created to support Ronald McDonald House Charities, which helps keep families together while their children receive medical care.

"The Ronald McDonald House is a great blessing to many families," local McDonald's owner-operator Mark Smith said in the release. "It is an honor to serve our communities."

The Smith family has a tradition of supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities. In 2022, Mark Smith was inducted into the Ronald McDonald House Charities Hall of Fame. His father, Hank Smith, was inducted in 2000.
