3-year-old child drowns in creek near Chattanooga home, police say

A child drowned in a creek near a Chattanooga home on Saturday morning, according to police.

Chattanooga police responded to a call at 8:40 a.m. of a missing 3-year-old child in the 4900 block of Angela Drive, and officials began search-and-rescue measures, according to a news release.

Police officers found the child in a creek. CPR was immediately administered, and the child was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead, the release states.

An investigation is ongoing.
