Q: What are the most common injuries and illnesses during the warmer months — and how can they be prevented?
A: We consider this time of year “trauma season” as people are getting outdoors more often, riding motorcycles, boating, biking, hiking and those types of activities.
Fortunately, most of these injuries can be prevented by common sense. If you’re riding a motorcycle or bike, always wear a helmet. Any time you’re on the roadways or waterways, follow the “rules of the road” and make yourself visible — especially if it’s during the early morning or evening hours when visibility is limited.
While accidents happen, those are things you can do to decrease the chances of experiencing an accident during trauma season.
