Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man early Tuesday after a chase down Lee Highway that ended with the man clipping a patrol car and attempting to run across Interstate 24.

Cordaro Ervin is being held at Silverdale Detention Center on multiple charges, including two counts of aggravated assault, reckless driving and evading arrest. He is also charged with several driving violations in connection with the incident, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.

The chase began when Ervin fled a traffic stop. A deputy had tried to pull him over around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday after reportedly seeing him commit “multiple traffic violations,” the release said.

Deputies made “several attempts” to stop Ervin’s car during the chase, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Ervin allegedly tried to hit patrol cars during the chase, eventually clipping the front passenger side of one causing his car to spin into the center divider of I-24.

Ervin then reportedly got out of the car, jumped over the divider and attempted to run across the interstate. Deputies caught him after a short foot chase, according to the release.

Ervin was also found with several outstanding warrants for charges including aggravated assault, property theft, possessing drugs for resale and three probation violations.
