Two seriously injured after shooting in Ooltewah, sheriff says


Two people were shot in Ooltewah on Monday, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 6400 block of Ooltewah-Georgetown Road around 3:30 p.m. Monday, according to a Facebook post from the Sheriff's Office.

Two victims were taken to a medical facility nearby with apparent "serious injuries," sheriff's spokesperson Matt Lea said in an email on Monday.

Residents were asked to avoid the area Monday afternoon to leave room for emergency vehicles. Sheriff Austin Garrett said there is no danger to the public, Lea said.
