A strong line of storms passing through Southeast Tennessee downed trees and power lines across the region Friday afternoon, but there were no reports of injuries as of 3:25 p.m. EST.

Authorities in Bradley, Bledsoe and Sequatchie counties said there were reports of trees and power lines down, but no injuries were reported.

Debris has been reported on the roadway on Highway 153 north near the Chickamauga Dam in Chattanooga, blocking one lane, as well as debris on Interstate 24 in Marion County.

Most of the stormy weather was wrapping up in Marion County, Sheriff Ronnie "Bo" Burnett said around 2:05 p.m. EST.

"We have trees down everywhere, but that's about all we've got right now," said Burnett, who was on Whitwell Mountain when he spoke by phone to the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

"Batten down the hatches over there," Burnett advised folks in Hamilton County.

Just before 2 p.m. Friday, Marion County Emergency Management Agency Director Steve Lamb said there were reports of widespread wind damage, especially in the southern end of the county.

"We're getting pounded," Lamb said by phone. "We've got reports of trees down all over the county, including the interstate, Highway 108, South Pittsburg Mountain. In Jasper, there are power lines down, and we've had one house that it was reported the roof was blown off the porch in Valley View, but I don't have confirmation of that. It's all over our county."

Lamb said there also had been reports of three trees that were leaning and about to fall on a road in Whitwell at the top of the mountain.

"But no injuries reported anywhere, and other than damage to that house, no other house damage reported," Lamb said.
