According to information from Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee's office, the Volunteer State is ranked 49th in education spending. The District of Columbia and 47 other states are ranked higher in spending.
Tennessee schools are ranked at 33 for quality of education.
The state receives $1.8 billion in federal funding for education.
