Chip Henderson appointed chair of Chattanooga City Council

The Chattanooga City Council on Tuesday unanimously appointed Chip Henderson, of Lookout Valley, as council chair, a position with a term limit of one year.

The council also unanimously voted to keep Jenny Hill, of North Chattanooga, as vice chair.

Henderson replaces council member Raquetta Dotley, of East Lake, as chair.

"Thank you so much for the opportunity to serve as your first African American chairwoman," Dotley said to the council Tuesday.

Council member Darrin Ledford, of East Brainerd, commended Dotley for her work during her term as chair.

"Thank you for your leadership. You were incredible to serve alongside. I am so proud of the job you have done," Ledford said.
