Chattanooga police arrest suspect in Feb. 1 homicide

A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Feb. 1, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

Marquel Lane, 36, has been charged with first-degree murder, reckless endangerment and unlawful possession of a firearm. Lane is being held at the Hamilton County Jail, according to the release.

Around 8 p.m. Feb. 1, police responded to reports of a person shot on the 700 block of East 48th Street, the release stated.

A victim was found with a gunshot wound, according to police, and taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
