Starting Monday in East Ridge, contract construction crews will begin resurfacing McBrien Road between Ringgold Road and South Terrace, according to a city news release.

During the work, lanes in the 1400 block of McBrien Road will be intermittently closed while crews resurface the roadway, the release states. Crews will be on-site to assist in directing traffic through zones of open roadway, city spokesperson Bridgett Raper said in the release. Once completed, the contractor — Talley Construction — will reopen McBrien Road completely from Ringgold Road to South Terrace.

Talley Construction is also the contractor for East Ridge's ongoing sidewalk and drainage project, launched in June 2022.

The north end of the paving project on McBrien meets up with ongoing work on the $161 million second phase of the Tennessee Department of Transportation's Interstate 75-Interstate 24 interchange improvement project. In February, transportation officials said that project, which involves the installation of new bridges at McBrien and South Moore roads, was about 25% complete and is on track for a 2025 finish.

The weather should not interfere with the start of East Ridge's resurfacing project. According to the National Weather Service, the forecast calls for a sunny sky through at least Wednesday and highs of 64 degrees Monday, 70 Tuesday and 71 Wednesday.

During the work, all traffic attempting to access McBrien Road from Ringgold Road will see alternate routes and detour signs directing traffic to Altamaha Street and South Moore Road to help prevent traffic backups, the release states.
