Vote Allison Gorman for House District 26
If the majority votes for or against candidates based solely on the party affiliations with little or no regard to their qualifications, occasionally the desired result is achieved. However, often the result is, at best, mediocre elected officials and, at worst, officials whose legislative actions greatly affect our lives in an adverse manner.
Greg Martin, our current representative in Tennessee District 26, closely follows the dogma of the Republican Party. Unfortunately, this includes — among other things — degrading the health of women by working against a sensible abortion law, weakening the already besieged public schools by siphoning off funds for vouchers, and avoiding taking steps that would actually curb gun violence.
Allison Gorman is Mr. Martin’s opponent for the District 26 seat. She has tirelessly gone door-to-door throughout the district explaining her platform to everyone who will listen. Critically important to me, I was convinced that her platform supports the real needs of the people of Tennessee and not necessarily the desires of a political party.
I looked at the issues and candidates and cast my vote for Allison Gorman. I hope that you will do the same.

Kathy Lennon will be an effective voice
I’ve always valued public service, the kind of hard work and dedication Patsy Hazlewood demonstrated during her five terms in the state House of Representatives.
It is extremely important that the citizens of District 27 continue to have an effective voice in Nashville. Kathy Lennon, a proven leader, will continue that tradition of public service. She deserves our vote.

Lizzy Schmidt truly represents Walden
Two items in yesterday’s mail caught my attention: campaign mailers from both candidates in the Walden Alderman contested election.
Candidate Lou Ziebold’s single-vision platform of a “quaint town center” was espoused once again. The development concept is the old Lines Orchid property purchased by unknown investors of LOP, LLC.
Incumbent Vice-Mayor Lizzy Schmidt’s mailer threw out facts about “follow the money” that deserve more details. Ziebold has raised more money but from where? He has raised a little over $18,000. An LOP representative contributed $1,800; another person listed at the same address (not in Walden) contributed $1,800. A notable Realtor contributed $1,800 (not a resident). Two other people related to real estate contributed $750. Out-of-state contributions totaled $4,100. Of the nine Walden residents giving a combined $4,800, three donated $1,000 each. Looks like mostly special interest for a single vision.
Schmidt has taken in less money; shy of about $10,000. However, 25 Walden residents contributed $7,310. There are no special interest contributions.
The takeaway for me is that Schmidt represents the residents of Walden, has experience, has undergone tremendous personal attacks (including dropped lawsuits), has roots here and is not being a pawn of developers.
Vote Lizzy.
