UPDATE: As of 7 p.m. Friday, EPB said service had been restored.

After a reporting an internet outage Thursday afternoon, EPB expects to fully restore fiber optic service to the Collegedale area by midday Friday, according the utility company.

“It appears unrelated construction by an outside organization affected EPB lines which were then damaged by a passing train,” EPB spokesperson Sophie Moore said in a text. “We understand this is an inconvenience for customers.”

There are approximately 3,400 fiber and 75 power customers affected by the outage, Moore said.

In the meantime, the company said, local support teams are available 24/7/365 at epb.com or by text or phone at 423-648-1372.
