A former Tennessee state trooper faces charges of rape and official misconduct after an investigation by agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Brenton Wiegand, 38, was charged with one count of aggravated rape and one count of official misconduct, according to a news release from the TBI.
At the request of 12th Judicial District Attorney Courtney Lynch, agents with the TBI began investigating a complaint that a trooper had frequent contact with a person involved in prostitution. Agents determined Wiegand was “involved with the female while in his state vehicle and in uniform,” the release said.
