Baylor School will build a new dormitory complex as part of its ongoing effort to expand boarding enrollment.

The new complex on Rike Field will feature two student dorms, an event space and admissions office, Head of School Chris Angel said in a video announcing the project. Baylor said the school will also relocate its counseling offices to the new complex.

The building will host an updated health center, which Angel said would be the center’s first major renovation since it opened in 1989.

The new dormitories — one male and one female — will house a total of 96 beds.

The private school aims to complete the new complex by spring 2027 in order to allow students to move in that fall, Angel said. An official groundbreaking ceremony will take place in September.

Baylor will enroll a record number of boarding students this year, the school said in its monthly newsletter. Classes began Wednesday with 240 boarding students, an increase from the school’s 220 boarding students two years ago.

The school has worked to expand its boarding enrollment and housing options in recent years. In September 2023, it dedicated Howalt Hall, the school’s first new dormitory in over a decade. Later that school year, it opened a group of new faculty townhomes.

Baylor’s tuition for day students this year is $32,650. It costs $66,000 for domestic boarding students and $71,250 for international boarders.
