Signal Mountain leaders want county officials to consider their area’s particular needs when passing a comprehensive growth plan.
Plan Hamilton is set to become a guiding document for new development in Hamilton County’s unincorporated areas, though it still must be approved by local planning commissioners and the state.
Walden and Signal Mountain, though incorporated with their own governments, are also affected by development in those nearby areas, Vice Mayor Clay Crumbliss said.
Adding more residents and more density on the plateau, as the plan could allow, could clog up its limited roads and crowd local schools, Town Council members said.
