Holidays: Along with all the jolliness, tempting foods line the table, family members get on your last nerve and you’re starting to feel that first sniffle that will inevitably turn into the flu. So what can you do to stay healthy and happy during this most wonderful — though often challenging — time of the year?

Chattanooga resident Shilaya Tidwell’s holiday experience is usually coupled with getting sick.

“Sometimes it’s happened even when I’ve had the flu shot, but it’s typically either the flu or something like the flu,” Tidwell says.

The increase in family time also brings on illness.

“I’m just very susceptible to certain things,” she explains. As someone with asthma, she also finds that the lack of exposure to the outdoors and the dryer environment in her house make things even worse.
