In a joint statement released Tuesday, the Davidson County General Sessions judges announced that the Justice A.A. Birch Courthouse has implemented heightened security measures following Facebook posts on Dec. 5 by U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Columbia. The judges also sent an open letter to Gov. Bill Lee asking the state to help secure the area around the courthouse.

Ogles’ posts included a picture of Mohamed A. Mohamed, a Somali immigrant who was accused of raping a woman on the steps of a Nolensville Pike church in August. According to neighborhood sources, the woman — who neighbors said was living on the streets — had overdosed and passed out, and the perpetrator was only caught because the fire department was responding to a call nearby. The woman later died in the hospital.

In addition to a mug shot of Mohamed, Ogles posted photos of six Democratic judges who had seen Mohamed face charges in their courtroom.

“Every judge and prosecutor who let him off the hook was a DEMOCRAT,” Ogles wrote. “As long as local liberals are running things in Middle Tennessee, we are at war. The state should impeach all of the judges. Send the guard to Nashville.”
