Repairs for water outage that closed five Soddy-Daisy schools will take hours

A water main break caused five Soddy-Daisy schools to close early and will take hours to restore service, officials said Wednesday.

Soddy Daisy High School, Soddy Daisy Middle School, Daisy Elementary School, Sequoyah Technical High School and North River Future Ready Center closed Wednesday due to the water outage. Hamilton County Schools said on Facebook that North River Future Ready Center students would stay at their zoned school for the day.

Crews restored service to an earlier water outage at Daughtery Ferry Road, but the leak at Dayton Pike and McAfee Road, down the road from the post office, remains, according to the North West Utility District’s Facebook page. The utility estimated repairs would take six to eight hours.

Residents near the leak might have low water pressure or no water, the utility said.

The North West Utility District serves Soddy-Daisy, Falling Water, Mowbray Mountain and Sale Creek communities, according to its Facebook page.
