Nightcap Cocktails and Sweets will close Thursday a little more than a year after it opened as a late-night drinks and desserts hangout in the West Village neighborhood of downtown Chattanooga.
The bar will close on New Year’s Day after hosting one final bash, a New Year’s Eve throwback celebration from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. with the theme “Party Like It’s 1999.”
“Thanks for the parties, celebrations, late-night stories, and all the fun you brought through our doors,” the bar said in a post to social media on Monday. “This place has meant everything to us because of you.”

Nightcap is owned by an affiliate of DeFoor Brothers, the development company of brothers Ken and Byron DeFoor, who own many buildings in the neighborhood. The bar opened in October 2024 and shared a building with Old Gilman Grill and the Gilman Lofts luxury condos.
It was open from 5:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The menu at Nightcap included cakes, sweet and savory crepes, pies, tiramisu and creme brulee.
WHAT’S COMING
West Village sits between West Sixth Street and M.L. King Boulevard to the north and south and Broad Street and Highway 27 to the east and west.
The DeFoor brothers moved their company to the area in 2015 with a vision to turn it into a hub of downtown nightlife, with several options open late. The neighborhood is home to restaurants like Easy Bistro and St. John’s, as well as numerous hotels owned by DeFoor Hospitality Group.
Nightcap will be replaced by a new tenant operating on multiple stories, said Ember Souchet, director of asset management at DeFoor Brothers.
“Nightcap, a beloved spot known for its intimate atmosphere, will soon be transformed into a vibrant new venue offering craft cocktails, a full menu and an unforgettable experience,” Souchet said in a text. “With a piano bar upstairs and a speakeasy cocktail lounge downstairs, this venue breathes new life into the former parking garage, bringing a unique blend of charm and excitement to the neighborhood.”
DeFoor Brothers has not released a name or opening date for the new tenant.
