The White Oak Bicycle Cooperative in Red Bank, a volunteer-run nonprofit, repairs hundreds of donated bicycles each week that are then given to children, low-income households and people experiencing homelessness.

The goal is to ensure that everyone deserves to ride a bike. The time commitment and giving spirit among our volunteers are heartfelt as many charities in our area also benefit from the Cooperative’s gifts.

Many of the volunteer repairers needed new tools to help fix the bikes. When the employees of Elder’s Ace hardware learned about this need, the company donated hundreds of dollars worth of new gadgets to make each bike shop more efficient.

As the late Mr. Rogers once said, “All of us, at some time or other, need help.”
