Places like Hixson and Lookout Valley will be hit by a code inspection “blitz” next week, according to a press release from the Chattanooga Public Works Department.
The Land Development Office’s entire inspection team will attempt to look at as many addresses as possible Monday and Tuesday, though those dates may change. The team is targeting City Council District 1, which encompasses Lookout Valley, Mountain Creek and northern parts of Hixson.
Places with code violations will have a notice of violation tag placed on their property, with the city’s letterhead. Property owners will have two weeks to correct the violation. Then the property will be re-inspected. If it’s still not up to code, the owner will have to go to court.
Inspectors are looking for violations in a few key areas, according to the press release. They include:
— Overgrowth: Weeds and grass can’t be over 10 inches high. Property owners are responsible for mowing grass to the edge of the street.
