Hamilton County District Attorney Coty Wamp said she will be taking the stairs for a while after spending about 35 minutes trapped in an elevator Tuesday.
Around 12:30 p.m., the outside doors of an elevator at the Courts Building jammed while Wamp was inside. Firefighters pried the door open so Wamp could exit, Fire Department spokesperson Lindsey Rogers said by email.
“They laughed at me at one point, which is understandable,” Wamp said. “So long as the elevator didn’t plummet to the ground, I was going to be just fine.”

By text, Wamp said the Fire Department is awesome. She was trapped while on her way to thank a grand jury on its last day of service.
“Luckily they stuck around so I could tell them I got stuck in the elevator,” Wamp said, “and also I’m grateful for their service.”
Elevator rescues are routine for the department, Rogers said, and firefighters were glad to assist Wamp.
“She has been a great supporter of our department and our firefighters,” Rogers said, “and we appreciate the work her office does.”
