Buck Orrison said that after nearly four decades in the insurance business, there’s not much that keeps him up at night. But there is at least one point that does give him pause.

“I’m a firm believer in the use of the most cutting-edge technology,” said Orrison, managing partner at Chattanooga-based KeyRisk Underwriters, “but one of the biggest challenges we have, and will continue to face, will be our ability to keep human interaction alive and thriving – in all business.

“There is tremendous value in human interactions at all levels,” Orrison added. “That’s where I believe true genius is born.”

Katie Holtzhower, Cigna Healthcare’s Chattanooga-based new business manager, said that whatever one’s role in an insurance company, the industry “is ultimately about people.”

She encourages individuals contemplating a career in health insurance to “be curious, ask questions and don’t be afraid to work across functions.”
