Postcard warning is voter suppression
To be certified to teach special education, you are required by Tennessee law to take courses in statistics, which I did — begrudgingly. However, I learned things like assuming voters are either Democrat or Republican is a false assumption — see Sens. Bernie Sanders or Angus King, both independents.
Many of us vote independently as well and are not and do not desire to be affiliated with either party. It isn’t difficult to see the motivation behind this is voter suppression, but is it also taxation without representation? I will play along with Republicans who sent me their oversized postcard warning because I enjoy watching them shoot themselves in the foot. I will wait until the general election and vote straight Democrat.

Let merit, not race decide leadership
So the color of one’s skin is more important than the content of one’s character, one’s effectiveness or one’s ability to work with others, according to Chattanooga Councilperson Raquetta Dotley. This childish approach to governing is pathetic, destructive and tired, and needs to stop. Racial quotas for leadership on the council are patently absurd. My advice: Reelect nobody.
